Now & Then
(boyton, suffolk, 2010)
'Its many years since I sang a song. I’m seventy-eight and you think you are past it.
You are not, you still enjoy it and it’s good.' — RESIDENT OF THE BOYTON ALMS HOUSES
Now and Then was an intergenerational project in partnership with Suffolk Artlink, with residents from the Mary Warner Homes in Boyton and the children of Hollesley Primary School, Suffolk. Workshops and sharing sessions took place throughout the year in which the participants worked with an Indian dancer, musicians, step dancers, a poet, an actor and director. This culminated in two public performances on 12 February in Hollesley Village Hall in which the children and residents performed their own poems, danced, sang and took part in a dramatization of Cap o' Rushes (an East Anglian version of Cinderella).
