Wonderful Beast, formed in 1997, is the Suffolk-based storytelling theatre company which dramatises myths, legends, folk and fairy tales for audiences of all ages through productions, story telling performances and outreach workshops.
 Wonderful Beast aims to recover the sense of wonder, danger and darkness in familiar tales which have all too often been sweetened and sanitised, and to perform lesser-known tales from different cultures. It believes there is a hunger for these stories which have the power not only to entertain, but to tap into our innermost desires, fears and dreams. They are our universal heritage.
Wonderful Beast works with actors, musicians, dancers, poets, writers and visual artists to create new, diverse and illuminating ways of telling the oldest stories in the world.
Music is at the heart of all its work.
 Wonderful Beast's objectives are to bring together
audiences of different generations through the use of myths, legends, folk and fairy tales;
different art forms through multi-disciplinary productions;
different cultures by highlighting the common roots of all stories through productions, workshops and storytelling performances; different audiences through outreach, touring and performing in more remote and unusual venues.
